I went to the conference last year in Cascais, without a lot of expectations being the first conference for me within the ERA network. My experience of that event was beyond expectations. I had a blast, everything was so well organized and the location was really great.

Originally, I did not plan to participate. Unfortunately the timing was in overlap with a very important project delivery with one of my most important clients. Organizing my agenda so I could attend was not a “pleasure cruise” but I managed to do it! And, well, I’ve been repaid 10x for my efforts, honestly.

The venue, the content and general mood were really great and, moreover, I really had a concrete chance to share with the whole network at once my business agenda and my competencies.

Last year was my first conference live with everybody. I started in ERA in May 2020 and until then every contact with the ERA team had been digital. The Cascais Conference was very interesting for me for three main reasons, to meet in person Partner and ERA Staff that I have worked with, to extend my network inside ERA (I met Partners in the IT area that I started to work with because I met them at the conference) and to have a better view on the plans and future actions of ERA. “I thoroughly enjoyed the 2022 EMEA Conference. While I’m a U.S. consultant, Portugal was my third EU conference and maybe the best yet. The top two reasons that I fly across the pond to attend the EU conferences are the content and to meet my ERA EMEA colleagues. The content of the sessions delivered is excellent and globally relevant, not Eurocentric. The exposure to the thought leaders in ERA’s EU network has had a lasting impact on me and my ERA consulting practice.

The cross pollination of success is palpable as we share ideas and experiences during breaks, meals, and, of course, at the bar whenever possible. We are all the same, but different, so the exchange of concepts and discussions about different processes we use never fail to provide multiple, “Ah ha!” experiences. I know I wouldn’t find those if I had stayed home and attended a few more networking events or prospecting calls. I’ve missed one EU conference since 2017 because of my son’s high school graduation, which the school refused to reschedule for the other 400 kids so I could go to Spain.

The EU conference venues are always top notch ,but the awards dinner at the restaurant on the ragged cliffs of Portugal is an experience that will be etched in my mind well after the pictures have faded. Consultants should beware of attending even one EU conference as they’re at a level that is addictive. See you in Spain this May!”

Although nominally an EMEA conference, I was amazed by the number of attendees from all over the world. Being new to the network, it can sometimes feel like you are working alone. This event provides a much greater sense of the truly global nature of the franchise.

It is a great opportunity to meet fellow franchisees, all at different stages of their ERA careers, and understand what works in different markets. I am fortunate to be involved in some pan-European projects and it is an area of my business I would like to grow. The conference represents a great networking opportunity to achieve that.
